Method
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and shredded cheddar cheese, mixing until smooth and fully blended.
- Add the Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper to the cheese mixture, stirring well to incorporate all the flavors.
- Shape the cheese mixture into a compact round ball using your hands or a spatula, then wrap it tightly in plastic wrap. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
- Once chilled, transfer the cheese ball onto a serving platter and gently roll it in crushed puffed rice or pretzels to create a crunchy exterior resembling a web or cocoon.
- Arrange broken pretzels or breadsticks on top of the cheese ball to resemble spider legs, inserting them partially into the cheese to secure them.
- If desired, add small edible eyes or black olives to the front of the cheese ball to create a spooky spider face.
- Bring the Cheese Ball out just before serving. The combination of a creamy interior, crunchy exterior, and spooky decorations makes it a fun centerpiece for Halloween parties.
Notes
Chill the cheese ball sufficiently to make shaping easier and to set the exterior coating. Use small edible decorations for added spooky effects.
