Ingredients

  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice about 4-5 lemons
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar adjust to taste
  • 2 cups cold water
  • 3 cups ice cubes more or less for desired slushiness
  • optional fresh herbs or spices such as mint, basil, or a pinch of ginger spice

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Combine lemon juice, sugar, and water in the blender. Blend on low until the sugar dissolves completely and the mixture is smooth and slightly frothy.
  2. Add ice cubes to the blender. Cover and blend on high until the mixture becomes thick, frosty, and slushy with a fine, granular texture.
  3. If desired, add fresh herbs or a hint of spice at this stage. Pulse briefly just to incorporate and release their aroma into the slushie.
  4. Check the consistency; if it's too thick, add a splash of water and pulse again until it reaches your preferred slushiness.
  5. Pour the contents into chilled glasses. The mixture should be fluffy, icy, and vibrant in color.
  6. Garnish with a sprig of herb or a lemon wedge if desired, and serve immediately with a straw for maximum enjoying.

Notes

For a sweeter slushie, adjust the sugar amount. Adding fresh herbs or spices enhances flavor and makes each batch unique. Serve immediately for the best icy texture.
